About the Artist
Larry Chan (full name Tak Chun Larry Chan, or 陳得雋) is an independent artist, illustrator and animator currently working in London, UK. He is a graduate of California College of the Arts, with a BFA in Illustration.
Born in Hong Kong, Larry grew up with a passion for drawing and art, and a love for visual storytelling. His specialty is intricate and detailed line art, inspired by the comic artists Herge and Bill Watterson, along with the works of children’s cross-section illustrator Stephen Biesty.
Growing up, Larry had accompanied his family and school classes on various travels around the world. This instilled a strong interest in landscapes and environments, and also a deep love of exploration. When drawing real or imagined locations, Larry wishes to evoke unknown possibilities hiding in their images, giving the viewer a sense of being an explorer themselves. While his art can be reverent, he also enjoys evoking a child-like playfulness in his work.
Though he began as a sketchbook artist, Larry’s primary medium became digital art, and he is adept at digital drawing and painting. Recently he has also self-trained in 2D animation.
While working mainly on a computer, Larry still wishes to add a human touch to his artwork, and hopes that his works will show human intent and heart.

Artist Statement:
From reflecting the world through my art, I hope people can find an appreciation for the places around them, especially the small things that make them so unique. I hope my art can help people somewhere in their lives, even if it’s simply a smile.
I choose not to make perfect art, but art made by a human hand.
